Tony Oladipo Allen, born 1940 in Nigeria, played with Fela Kuti from the very start in 1964 and also acted as musical director from 1968. He recorded more than 30 albums with Fela and Africa ’70 before starting other projects around 1980. He continued to play for the rest of his life which ended in 2020.
A spectacular drummer and artist indeed.
