When the World is Running Down…

This album represents so much of what I love about music. Me and my wife were both at the show in 1985 and for me, it remains one of the very best performances I have ever experienced. So, I had the vinyl, have the DVD and still stream this when I need a little boost. Such staying power, and the jazzed-up versions of his solo album simply blew me away.

Album cover to Sting's "Bring on the Night" live recording. Possibly the best concert I've ever been to, or at least tied with Prince's "Sign 'o' The Times" tour.
Bring on the Night

For those who wasn’t there, let me present from left to right: on backing vocals, Dolette McDonald and Janice Pendarvis, Darryl Jones on the bass, then Sting in a colorful jacket. Behind him to the right is the fantastic Branford Marsalis on saxophone. Just out of frame is Kenny Kirkland on the keyboards and drummer Omar Hakim who was absolutely on fire for this tour.

The original artwork is credited to Donna Muir and Su Huntley who had started their art and design company Huntley-Muir one year before. From the looks of their website, they are still going strong.

I used Affinity Designer to re-create it as best I could. The vector-brushes in Nathan Brown’s Ultimate Brush Toolbox, acrylic brushes came in handy for most of the strokes.
